Discover with Dr. Cool

on May 10, 2015

pic1We just tried out this awesome science kit from Discover with Dr. Cool.  This set is for the ultimate volcano science kit.  My six year old loves science and has a little science fair coming up for the end of school. So this little volcano kit will make a perfect science project for her.  It comes with everything you need to make your volcano.  It has the mold and plaster to make the volcano shape, it has paint to decorate it with, it has the explosion mixture to pour down inside and a measuring cup to measure what you need and add it in.  There is even some extras like a little display to put behind your volcano, an activity booklet, and a fun facts booklet.  My six year old had so much fun using this kit in her class science project.  She also loved reading about volcanos and as a parent I loved the extra booklets that help them learn more about the topic.  They will need adult supervision, you won’t want to just let them take this and go do it.  The activity booklet may be for a little older some of the puzzles my six year old had some trouble with but there were some she could do easily.  There was also some extras, we had 2 rocks and an arrowhead which she thought was so awesome! Discover with Dr. Cool has other science kits as well so make sure to check them out.

We’ve turned this classic science experiment into the ultimate hands-on volcano experience! First you’ll use the plaster and mold included to make your volcano chamber. Then you’ll use the brush and paints included in the kit to decorate it. Next you’ll make the volcano erupt over and over again with the eruption powder (included). Plus you’ll get to examine 3 genuine volcanic specimens including: a real geode, an obsidian arrowhead, and a floating piece of volcanic rock called pumice. The information guide will teach you all about your specimens as well as how volcanoes form and why they erupt. Also included is an activity booklet with 10 fun games, puzzles, and challenges to complete. Because everything is included in the kit, you won’t need to run to the store for additional supplies. If you’re doing this project for the science fair, you’ll love how nice this volcano looks—it’s way better then those paper mache volcanoes. This is the perfect science kit for anyone interested in geology, earth science, or volcanoes.

SPECIAL TIPS:

  • Some tips for casting a successful volcano: the Ultimate Volcano directions call for one cup of water to be added to the plaster, and this amount works for most customers. However, if you have added a full cup and the mix still seems too thick to pour into the mold, stir in a little extra water, adding a bit at a time (up to 1/4 cup). The ideal consistency should be thick, but pourable. We also recommend working quickly and using cold water throughout, since warm or hot water can make the plaster harden more quickly.

You can purchase this kit on the Discover with Dr. Cool Website and Amazon!

I received this item complimentary or at a reduced price for my honest review.  However, I only recommend products I truly love and use to my readers. #AmazonReview
